What can I do to keep my PC safe on the Internet?

Because our system is an “always-on” system, if your computer is turned on and connected to the modem it is vulnerable to attacks and viruses.

When you are connected we recommend the following to help keep your computer safe:

1) Keep your operating system (Windows/MAC) up to date. Ensure you get the latest critical updates or high-priority updates from Microsoft/MAC or other software vendors.

2) Run anti-virus software and keep its virus definitions updated weekly at a minimum. Anti-virus software is no good unless kept up-to-date.

3) Run a personal firewall. Windows has a small firewall that only protects you from things coming from outside. Third-party software such as Zone Alarm or Norton protects you from both incoming and outgoing traffic.

4) Use spyware detection/removal software regularly software such as Ad-aware or Spybot Search & Destroy.
